Laura Kleinbaum (she/her) is an Emmy and Glaad-nominated theatre and television writer from New Jersey who lives in Los Angeles.
The NYTimes said her immersive Off-Broadway musical House of Cleopatra (with composer Jeff Daye) “delivers beats, bass and beefy hooks in a nightclub setting that makes most musical theater feel like ancient history.” Most recently, the show premiered at Edinburgh Fringe!
Laura is the Story Editor and Executive Producer of the animated musical show Vida the Vet (BBC, Nickelodeon). She also wrote the theme song! Previously, she was the Lyric Supervisor for Bea’s Block (Sesame/HBO) and wrote scripts and songs on Emmy award-winning shows including Rugrats, Tiny Chef, Superkitties, Interrupting Chicken, Bubble Guppies, Cocomelon Lane and more on Nickelodeon, Disney, Apple+, and Netflix.
Laura attended Columbia University and earned her MFA from the NYU Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. She is a member of the Dramatist Guild and the Lehman Engel BMI Musical Theatre Advanced Workshop, where she was awarded the Jean Banks Award for Best Musical and the Ellen Schwartz Award for Outstanding Literary Merit in Lyric Writing.
